Dirt Devils @ the OMGs Tournament

Its so fun to watch these lil mama's play softball.. It amazing what talent they have and at such a young age.  They played well this weekend.  Had some good games.  Hitting that ball and running those bases.  Its amazing to see them catch those fly balls and even make plays.  They went on to the ship game and loss to the OMG Evolution team.  Still proud of their second place finish.  Good job Dirt Devils!!!

Boom 10u State Tournament

7/11-13

While we were in San Diego with Hot Shotz, our 10u Boom girls were playing in the ASA State Tournament in Brigham City.  There were 10 teams participating.  They put the pools together based on your ranking.  So all the top ranking teams were in one pool.  That put Hive, Boom, Predators and Evolution in the same pool.  These in my opinion are the best teams in 10u.

From the start Boom brought the BOOM.  They won their first pool game against Evo and went on to win their next pool game against the nemesis Hive.  :).  Bracket play started off with another win against Thunder.  Next they played Evo and once again won.  And then another win against Predators.  So now they wait for Championship.  Which of course comes to be Hive.  All the while we are praying from Cali for a win as we have met up with Hive many times before the last year or more in the ship game with them always winning.  Although bats were hot and defense was on point, Boom let the ship game get away and Hive pushed them to an IF game.  However, total shut out.. well might as well be.. Boom girls won the tournament and are  your 10u 2013 State Champs.  Beating Hive with a smash score of 15-2.  Like wow!!!  We heard nothing but amazing things about the team.  So very proud of them.  I knew they had it in them.

Big huge Shout Out to #15 Josie Vaenuku for hitting an "over the fence HOMERUN" during the championship game.  Great job Josie!!!!!

12u Triple Crown WORLD SERIES in San Diego

07/08-07/13

First day on stage doing their cheer!!
To end our spring/summer season we planned for the 12u Triple Crown World Series in San Diego, California.  We are so happy we made it and had a great experience.

Girls in the army costume!!

Monday starts off with team parade, introductions and pin trading.  They also had dinner and carnival for everyone.  Instead of your normal parade style of walking the street and all we go to go up on stage and be introduced.  Girls did one of their beat bumping cheers.  They opted to go with an army theme being that San Diego is home to Fort Hood (???) and base.  Girls looked cute.  And they had a fun time exchanging pins with all the other teams there.  There was a total of 108 teams participating in 12u so there were many pins to be traded.
Some of the pin trading pins

Games began on Tuesday.  2 pool games Tuesday and another 2 on Wednesday.  We played teams from Southern and Northern California.  Losing all pool games.  Games we let get away from us.  We definitely could have battled harder and won some of those games.  We all the loses, we were last in our pool and would be playing in the Bronze bracket.

Parade before the Padres vs Giants Major League Baseball game @ Petco Park

Ok, new day and bracket begins.  We wanted to come out playing better and hopefully getting a WIN in.  Well we def came out playing a whole lot better and only losing our first bracket game to the IV Venom by 1 point.  Live and learn.  Now we need to play harder and win to stay in the tournament.  Our next day of play we had a goal to be playing all day long.  We didn't plan anything fun b/c we wanted our time spent at the ballpark.  Well that we did infact do.  The girls weren't quite ready to hang it up.  We played Revolution from Orange County and it was tied 2-2 through out the game.  We were home team.  2 outs and we have 2 on base.  Winning score hit in by Shakel to keep us in the tournament.  Very exciting moment.

Cheering on the Giants @ Petco Park

We went on to win the next game and then loss by a fluke grandslam hit :(  Nothing you could do about it but we definitely played well although our record of 2-6 (Ha!!) did not show it.  It was a fun time and the girls learned from it.  We definitely can say that we can hang with the California teams.  And our skill levels are right there with them.  I can't wait to play more of those teams in the future.

DashNSplash 12u

Girls cooling off at Coldstones.. Thanks Kelly!!!!
6/28-29

We had record breaking temp this weekend.  Over 100 degress.  No one was looking forward to being at the ballpark in this crazy heat.  Thankfully this weekend we were in Tooele/Deseret Peak.  It always seems more cooler there.  It was still hot, but with a lil breeze and occassion cloud to cool things down even more.  Couldn't say the same for SLC so I'm glad we were in Tooele.  It didn't help either that the pool was shut down this year !

Our HS girls played this tournament along with about 13 other teams.  of the 13 we played a total 4 teams.  Interesting how that happens sometimes.  We played Ut Pred and Evo12u in pool play.  In bracket we met up with Roosevelt Rumble, Evo and G-Force and those are the teams we played during the tournament.

Our girls played well enough to win games til we met up with G-Force.  A team that we have won every time this season.  They were determined to beat us and that they did.  They beat us and put us in the losers bracket and met up with them in the championship game were we fell to them with a score of 10-3.  Another second place finish for our girls.  Can't complain much.  The better team this tourn won it.  Now we know we just need to try a lil harder and come out strong from the beginning.  That was def one of the differences with our games with G-force.  they came out pumped and hyped from the start.  Still proud of our team and the effort they put forth.  Live and learn.
