12u Triple Crown WORLD SERIES in San Diego

07/08-07/13

First day on stage doing their cheer!!
To end our spring/summer season we planned for the 12u Triple Crown World Series in San Diego, California.  We are so happy we made it and had a great experience.

Girls in the army costume!!

Monday starts off with team parade, introductions and pin trading.  They also had dinner and carnival for everyone.  Instead of your normal parade style of walking the street and all we go to go up on stage and be introduced.  Girls did one of their beat bumping cheers.  They opted to go with an army theme being that San Diego is home to Fort Hood (???) and base.  Girls looked cute.  And they had a fun time exchanging pins with all the other teams there.  There was a total of 108 teams participating in 12u so there were many pins to be traded.
Some of the pin trading pins

Games began on Tuesday.  2 pool games Tuesday and another 2 on Wednesday.  We played teams from Southern and Northern California.  Losing all pool games.  Games we let get away from us.  We definitely could have battled harder and won some of those games.  We all the loses, we were last in our pool and would be playing in the Bronze bracket.

Parade before the Padres vs Giants Major League Baseball game @ Petco Park

Ok, new day and bracket begins.  We wanted to come out playing better and hopefully getting a WIN in.  Well we def came out playing a whole lot better and only losing our first bracket game to the IV Venom by 1 point.  Live and learn.  Now we need to play harder and win to stay in the tournament.  Our next day of play we had a goal to be playing all day long.  We didn't plan anything fun b/c we wanted our time spent at the ballpark.  Well that we did infact do.  The girls weren't quite ready to hang it up.  We played Revolution from Orange County and it was tied 2-2 through out the game.  We were home team.  2 outs and we have 2 on base.  Winning score hit in by Shakel to keep us in the tournament.  Very exciting moment.

Cheering on the Giants @ Petco Park

We went on to win the next game and then loss by a fluke grandslam hit :(  Nothing you could do about it but we definitely played well although our record of 2-6 (Ha!!) did not show it.  It was a fun time and the girls learned from it.  We definitely can say that we can hang with the California teams.  And our skill levels are right there with them.  I can't wait to play more of those teams in the future.
