12u Redwood League

 Kamora, Daisy, Huntyr, Tuli, Bubblegum

Spring Redwood League is over.. Its definitely been a long season.  It is our 2nd year of 10u and being that we have several World Series tournaments this year so our coach thought it would be a good experience to have our girls play 12u this year.  It was a big adjustment with the bigger 12' ball and the farther pitching mound.  Our girls have definitely worked hard.  We lost several games at first and then began to get into the swing of things and the game at the 12u level.  We ended the league playing Grantsville Toxic for championship and WE WON!!!!  Yay!!!

So proud of our girls and all the hard work they put into their game.  Each player have progressed so much and contributed in our win.  What an amazing group of girls and coaches.

Redwood League 12u CHAMPS.. Hot Shotz Hoorah!!!

Coaches: Gabe V, Julie R and Averil E..

Players: Daisy, Kamora, Harlie, Brooklyn, Bubblegum, Kaitlyn, Huntyr, Alyxx, Keisha and (p/u) Tuli (missing Libby)

12u May Madness

Looking all pretty before getting dirty..
Huntyr went to Hawaii and brought these flower sei's for the team
Thanks Huntyr!!!!
Our quest as 10u playing 12u continues.. Definitely feeling the pressure but loving the outcome!
There are some good 12u teams this tournament.  We had our work cut out for us.  It was nice to also meet up with teams we've never heard of.  Teams for out this way in the Utah County area that don't play too much...i think!  We were in a pool with Lady Utes, Utah Rage.. we've never met up with them before.  We didn't get the win, but we were definitely proud of the girls and the way they played.  They hung in there and put those teams to work.  We played our first bracket game against Hot Shotz-Jackson and got our first bracket loss of the tournament.  We didn't get slaughtered so that was a good game.  We then played the teams in our pool and won those games.  Highlight of the tournament would be our game against Evolution.. They are a 2nd year 12u team.  They are a good team.  All i remember from this team is they have big bats.  I think they thought it would be an easy win for them.  They were defintiely proven wrong.  I couldn't be more proud of our girls.  Their defense kept them in the game.  It was a back and forth battle btwn the 2 teams.  We hit They hit, Our defense was Hot their defense was hot.  It was a very exciting game.  After what seemed like a whole 7 innings (lol), we loss with a score of 12-10... yes we right there.. we were up, they were up.. It was a good game.  A moment you lose the game but are so proud of them team.. one of our proudest moments.  Our girls can definitely play and hang with the big girls.. Yay!!!

12u Thunder Rumble

12u Thunder Rumble held in Tooele .. Definitely a good tournament.  i loved how it was set up with 2 brackets.  A lower and higher bracket.  It definitely gave an opportunity for our team to play and compete.  Which isn't always the case with our 10u girls playing up in the 12u division.  We loss our games against some good teams but were able to battle in there and win games that eventually put us in the Championship game in the Lower bracket.  We ended the tournament playing the ship game and losing to the Carbon County DinoCrackers.  We'll take 2nd place too.. Aint nothing wrong with that at all.. Good job girls.. Hot Shotz Hoorah!

With the winners CC Dinocrackers

12u Spring Classic

After only playing 1 game last weekend, we were excited the sun was out and we could see the girls in this weekends 12u tournament.  Kaysville was the location and the weather was nice.  We played 2 pool games and went 1-1 and losing to a very good Pegasus team.
It was definitely hard to watch the girls play their best game but not good enough to win.  We ended the tournament playing 4 games.  2 pool games and 2 losing games in bracket that took us out of the tournament.  Total bummer but a good experience for the girls.  We'll get them next time.

12u Cleat Cleaners

Rain Rain Go Away ... We only got in 1 game in this tournament.  Thankfully is was a umpire training tourn and we paid by the game.  So this one only cost us a whopping $40..LOL.
Our HS team played against TC Predators.  We were a nervous wreck as this was our first test at 12u tournament play.  Girls have a new batting coach teaching them the proper batting technique.  But they made us proud and played the best they could.  Beating a the Predators with a score of 4-2.
And that ended that tourn for us as the Rain caming falling down.  All good..

Hot Shotz Luau

As a way of fundraising Hot Shotz did a Luau.  And because of its success last year, they went with the same fundraiser option this year.  We had a big location (our winter work out facility) the old circuit city store in the Midvale Shopping Center.  So with the help of all the parents on the 6 different teams, we got decor, tables, chairs.  Some of the ticket sales went to the food.  And we had a dance group provide the show for free.  How soo cool.  It was a big success and the support was awesome.  Each team was required to do a dance item.  I know our lil girls loved it.  It was fun practicing and then the highlight was the dancing.  They totally had a good time.  Thank you to everyone for their support.  Great success.

10u St Paddy's in Vegas

Boy we were excited to be going to Vegas.. Yay!!!  We definitely felt that our girls have been playing so well that we can hang with the Vegas tournament.  You have teams from everywhere there.  So the talent would be something we aren't use to in Utah..

Well... we went and played.  We had our ups and many downs.  It was not a good tournament at all.  Blame it on, nerves--being we were in new territory with good teams.  Blame it on, it being the first tournament of the year after a long winter break.. Blame it on, the girls just not geling and in the groove.  Blame it on, bad play calls choices by the coaches.. Whatever... Bottom line, it was a disappointing tournament.  And even worse since we drove many many miles to participate.  But we can't say we didn't learn any thing from it.  Both coaches and players.. and definitely parents.  We definitely have the talent to compete.  And even at this level with the California, Nevada teams.  It just wasn't out time ..

Now we go home to Utah and practice hard and come back a better wiser team.. Don't worry Vegas, we'll be back.. :)
