Gift for Kids in Mesquite

Fun in Mesquite with our softball families.  We had a big group going to Mesquite with the 8u DirtDevils, 10u Utah Boom and 12u Utah Hot Shotz.  Fun times for everyone.

8u DirtDevils went on the win their division easily.  Winning teams by double digits.  Way to play girls.

12u Utah Boom has their first real experience playing some got teams from out of state.  It was a rough go for them.  But what the learned from the experience will last forever.  Learn and grow from here.

Hot Shotz had a very good run in 12u.  Placing 3rd behind some very talented Las Vegas teams.

2013 Fall "Last Stand" Tournament

14u Elite Fall Challenge

Hot Shotz back in Tooele for the last time this year for the Elite Fall Challenge tournament.  They didn't have a good sign up for the 12u division so our team played up in the 14u division.  We have been playing league as 14u so we didn't have a problem with that. We came out strong and won games against Rampage & Kaos.  Gave Scorcherz a good run but could not pull out the win.  Overall great performance by the team.  Our bats were hot and the girls are hitting hitting hitting.. We definitely proved we have worked hard all year and can hang with the older girls.  Fun tournament for our girls.  They did us proud.

Wacky Warriors 2013

Its that time of year again.  Fall season has begun and the first tournament has always been the cancer charity tournament "WACKY WARRIORS".  Always fun times as they allow teams to dress wacky and do fun things.  Both Boom and Hot Shotz participated in the 12u division.  Along with about 12 other teams.  Games held at Centennial Park in West Valley.  Even better that its close to home.  Weather has already started to cool down so another plus for us.  Teams wore fun colored tie-dye shirts the coaches and parents put together.  Girls loved it.  Funky socks and crazy hair added to the Wackiness..

Boom girls and coaches

Hot Shotz team and coaches

Boom girls chose coach Foi to be dunked .. Where's the love.  Hahha.  He such a good sport.  As you can see with the dark skies, at this time the weather is not looking so hot.  Poor dude LOL

Each girl has a chance to throw to dunk Coach.  Our pitcher girls got him good.  Good job Bubbs and Shambre!!

Good job Boom girls.  First year 12s and doing good.. Lets practice hard and get the next one!!!

Not too long after Boom girls went home, storm hit -- all games on rain delayed.  this is what teams did as they waited.  Ooh... we got some dancers here.  LOL

Finally after about an hour of waiting, games were on.  B/c some fields were done, the 2 undefeated teams (Hot Shotz & Thunder) plays the ship game.  HS took 2nd place with a score of 8-7.  Darn good game.  Good job ladies!!!

Fastpitch meets Baseball

Never thought the two worlds would collide :).  You've got a fastpitch coach talking to a baseball coach about the game.  Yeah, we're state champs.. So what, so are we!.. I assume is how the macho conversation went.  And there you have it.. the date is set and we're meeting on the field.  LOL.  Ok, maybe not that dramatic.

Rose Park Allstars are the 10u Baseball State Champs.. Utah Boom are the 10u Fastpitch State Champs.  Most of the players all live in the same neighborhood.  So a scrimmage game was put together.  The girls had to play their game.. It looked easier for the girls to play the boys game.. Go figure LOL..

The girls did well and only loss with a score of 4-7.  We were able to make plays and hit the ball.  The girls pitched well for just picking it up this week.  I think they held back a little but still proud of their efforts.  They def can say we can play the boys game too.

Fun times and now back to the real game of Fastpitch softball and moving up to the 12u division.  You got this BOOM!!!!

Dirt Devils @ the OMGs Tournament

Its so fun to watch these lil mama's play softball.. It amazing what talent they have and at such a young age.  They played well this weekend.  Had some good games.  Hitting that ball and running those bases.  Its amazing to see them catch those fly balls and even make plays.  They went on to the ship game and loss to the OMG Evolution team.  Still proud of their second place finish.  Good job Dirt Devils!!!

Boom 10u State Tournament

7/11-13

While we were in San Diego with Hot Shotz, our 10u Boom girls were playing in the ASA State Tournament in Brigham City.  There were 10 teams participating.  They put the pools together based on your ranking.  So all the top ranking teams were in one pool.  That put Hive, Boom, Predators and Evolution in the same pool.  These in my opinion are the best teams in 10u.

From the start Boom brought the BOOM.  They won their first pool game against Evo and went on to win their next pool game against the nemesis Hive.  :).  Bracket play started off with another win against Thunder.  Next they played Evo and once again won.  And then another win against Predators.  So now they wait for Championship.  Which of course comes to be Hive.  All the while we are praying from Cali for a win as we have met up with Hive many times before the last year or more in the ship game with them always winning.  Although bats were hot and defense was on point, Boom let the ship game get away and Hive pushed them to an IF game.  However, total shut out.. well might as well be.. Boom girls won the tournament and are  your 10u 2013 State Champs.  Beating Hive with a smash score of 15-2.  Like wow!!!  We heard nothing but amazing things about the team.  So very proud of them.  I knew they had it in them.

Big huge Shout Out to #15 Josie Vaenuku for hitting an "over the fence HOMERUN" during the championship game.  Great job Josie!!!!!

12u Triple Crown WORLD SERIES in San Diego

07/08-07/13

First day on stage doing their cheer!!
To end our spring/summer season we planned for the 12u Triple Crown World Series in San Diego, California.  We are so happy we made it and had a great experience.

Girls in the army costume!!

Monday starts off with team parade, introductions and pin trading.  They also had dinner and carnival for everyone.  Instead of your normal parade style of walking the street and all we go to go up on stage and be introduced.  Girls did one of their beat bumping cheers.  They opted to go with an army theme being that San Diego is home to Fort Hood (???) and base.  Girls looked cute.  And they had a fun time exchanging pins with all the other teams there.  There was a total of 108 teams participating in 12u so there were many pins to be traded.
Some of the pin trading pins

Games began on Tuesday.  2 pool games Tuesday and another 2 on Wednesday.  We played teams from Southern and Northern California.  Losing all pool games.  Games we let get away from us.  We definitely could have battled harder and won some of those games.  We all the loses, we were last in our pool and would be playing in the Bronze bracket.

Parade before the Padres vs Giants Major League Baseball game @ Petco Park

Ok, new day and bracket begins.  We wanted to come out playing better and hopefully getting a WIN in.  Well we def came out playing a whole lot better and only losing our first bracket game to the IV Venom by 1 point.  Live and learn.  Now we need to play harder and win to stay in the tournament.  Our next day of play we had a goal to be playing all day long.  We didn't plan anything fun b/c we wanted our time spent at the ballpark.  Well that we did infact do.  The girls weren't quite ready to hang it up.  We played Revolution from Orange County and it was tied 2-2 through out the game.  We were home team.  2 outs and we have 2 on base.  Winning score hit in by Shakel to keep us in the tournament.  Very exciting moment.

Cheering on the Giants @ Petco Park

We went on to win the next game and then loss by a fluke grandslam hit :(  Nothing you could do about it but we definitely played well although our record of 2-6 (Ha!!) did not show it.  It was a fun time and the girls learned from it.  We definitely can say that we can hang with the California teams.  And our skill levels are right there with them.  I can't wait to play more of those teams in the future.

DashNSplash 12u

Girls cooling off at Coldstones.. Thanks Kelly!!!!
6/28-29

We had record breaking temp this weekend.  Over 100 degress.  No one was looking forward to being at the ballpark in this crazy heat.  Thankfully this weekend we were in Tooele/Deseret Peak.  It always seems more cooler there.  It was still hot, but with a lil breeze and occassion cloud to cool things down even more.  Couldn't say the same for SLC so I'm glad we were in Tooele.  It didn't help either that the pool was shut down this year !

Our HS girls played this tournament along with about 13 other teams.  of the 13 we played a total 4 teams.  Interesting how that happens sometimes.  We played Ut Pred and Evo12u in pool play.  In bracket we met up with Roosevelt Rumble, Evo and G-Force and those are the teams we played during the tournament.

Our girls played well enough to win games til we met up with G-Force.  A team that we have won every time this season.  They were determined to beat us and that they did.  They beat us and put us in the losers bracket and met up with them in the championship game were we fell to them with a score of 10-3.  Another second place finish for our girls.  Can't complain much.  The better team this tourn won it.  Now we know we just need to try a lil harder and come out strong from the beginning.  That was def one of the differences with our games with G-force.  they came out pumped and hyped from the start.  Still proud of our team and the effort they put forth.  Live and learn.

Crazy Busy Weekend-Brigham City Invitational 12u & DashNSplash 10u

6/21-22

Busy weekend. My son is at the All Poly football camp, Daisy and her Hot Shotz team is in Brigham City Invitational and Foi and his Boom team is in Tooele/Dash N Splash.. Can't be at all places at once and felt sad to be missing everything going on.. :(

Boom and Dirt Devil girls doing the Harlem Shake

Anyhoo.. Hot Shotz started pool play on Thursday with Sliders, Thunder and Attitude Roadrunners.  Teams we've easily beaten.  Well not that day :(.  Loss both pool games vs Att RR 2-0 and then vs Sliders 5-4.  Ugh..not a good way to stay the tournament.  Hits were a hit and miss.  Some were good some were struggling.  So was the case with defense.  All in all it resulted to our losses.  And early play for brackets on Friday.  Friday was a diff story for the team.  After being behind most of the game vs Surge2000, the girls battled and tied the game 5-5 taking it to an international tie breaker inning.  Surge added 1 to their score.  Being home team worked well in our favor.  We were able to get 2 scores in to win the game.  YAY.  What an exciting game!  S/O to Kamora who hit one over the fence for a 2 run Homerun during the game vs Surge..Nice job kid!  We were in the winners bracket til Liberty knocked us to the losers bracket.  We did meet up again in the ship and fell to them with a score of 10-0 :(.  Not a good game but definitely proud of how far they went.  Its good to have the hussle and success back from the team.  Second place out of 14 teams.  Good job Hot Shotz!!!
They received cups w/ candy and a medal for their prize

Boom were in pool play with Bullets, Voodoo and Altec Attitude a new team we've never played.  They won both pool games and #1 seed for bracket play.  They played well and had them in the winners bracket throughout the tourn.  Ship game vs Predators started late around 930.  An hour late.  Not sure what went wrong but they loss with a score of 14-5.  :(  Here we go to the IF game.  Well diff story.  They batted and hit the heck out of that ball and won with a score of 15-3.  And are the Dash N Splash CHAMPS!!!!  Yay.. Good job Boom!!!  Lets keep it going team!!

 The Champs ... BOOM!!!
Boom 1st place & TC Predators 2nd place

Dirt Devils

A few of the girls younger sisters and cousins have hopped on the softball wagon.  They too started out at the Bountiful Bonnet Ball league.  Their team did well during league played and they have made the all-star team who is known as the Dirt Devils.  Dash N Splash was their first tournament and they played well.  Losing by 1 point in the semi game to place them 3rd in the tournament.  Good job Dirt Devils!!!!  Next tournament in West Valley next week!!!

Brooklyn Tapusoa, Janie Vaenuku, Toiata Vaenuku, Alisi Tupou and Trinity Gasu
Watch out now!!!!  Here comes the Dirt Devils!!!

Wasatch Invitational in Heber City

6/14-15

Best of the West in Price was to go down this weekend.  When it was cancelled we all wanted to play and was able to get into the Wasatch Invitational in Heber City.  They didn't have a 10u age division but Boom went ahead and played.  Heber a beautiful lil town out of Park City.  And the weather was just perfect..well most of the time at least.

Games started early Friday morning for both teams.  We both won our first pool games (HS vs Tsunami and Boom vs Roosevelt Rumble 12u) which put us all in the Division I/Upper bracket.  Total of 8 team in Div I and 7 in Div II.  Teams in our bracket were Hot Shotz, Boom 10u, Thunder, Sliders, Surge 2000, Fast&Furious, Carbon Dirt Devils.

Boom didn't get too far in the tournament and played the allowed 4 games.  2 pool 2 bracket.  They were put in the difficult bracket and played some tough teams.  They were not shot out during their games so we def are proud of them.  Now back to work and prep for the upcoming 12u season when they'll be facing some of these same teams but definitely with a better outcome.

Hot Shotz girls played their game this weekend.  And just stepped up all around.  Early on they were put in the losers bracket by Surge.  Our favorite team to play :).  But they battled their way back.  Winning Thunder, Fast & Furious and Sliders in some very good games. Winning the Championship game vs Surge with a 4-2 score.  And pushing an IF game where we loss with a score of 4-3.  Its all good!!  Defense was amazing this weekend especially during our ship and IF games.  Outfielders were hussling and catching those fly balls.  Infield charged and fielded those hits to them.  Pitchers hitting their spots and doing a good darn job.  It was an wonderful sight to see.  I know they have it in them and they def proved it in Heber City.  Our bats were hot as well.  Everyone hit that ball.  S/O to our HomeRun Hitters Kamora (3) and Huntyr (1)..  SECOND PLACE finish is not bad at all.  Good job Hot Shotz.

Copper Classic 12u

5/31-6/1

Our Hot Shotz girl played in Copper Classic this year.  16 teams total with 2 brackets- upper silver and lower copper brackets.  We played our pool games vs Revolution and Surge.  It was an interesting game against Revolution.  Only b/c the pitcher threw her change up most of the time.  And maybe it wasn't intentional but thats what it looks like for us.  Or even it she threw her heat pitch it still came off slow.  We struggled bad.  And I realize that we really need to learn to be patient.. really patient.  We were able to finally get on board with 2 runs.  At the last inning they bring out their closer pitcher who was a lil faster and the girls finally was able to make contact.  Not sure thats what they intended on doing.. oh well :).  We won the game 6-2.

Surge is always fun to play b/c its such good competition.  And after the last time we played I'm sure they wanted to get us bad.  And that they did.  Well barely.  LOL.  Beating us 2-1.  It was a good game.

We played a total of 5 games the whole tournament being knocked out by Liberty with a score of 10-2.  Sad.  I know we can beat these teams.  We'll just keep working at it and get them the next time.  No pictures accept for the Silver bracket..

Hey..we did good in making the Upper/Silver bracket.  Thats something to be proud of.  hehe.

Inferno and Elite for the ship game with Inferno being the Champs!

10U Cleat Cleaner

Boom played in SoJo this past weekend in the Cleat Cleaner tournament.  It was nice to finally play a tournament.  There were a total of 6 teams in attendance.  Boom, Hive, Hot Shotz, Crush, Thunder and Voodoo.

Played Crush and Thunder in pool and then Crush and Hot Shotz in bracket and won all games.  Met up with Hive (our nemisis..lol) in our 3rd bracket game of the tournament.  That was a nail biter game.  Fortunately we were victorious with great at bats and good defense.  Proud of the girls.  Now we wait for the winner from the losers bracket to play the Championship game.

and who else should it be ... HIVE :).  Different story though.  Bats were not there this time around.  Defense struggled and here we go to an IF game.  Same thing again and finally we finish in second.  There is alot of work to be done.  Still very proud of them.  We'll get back out there and practice practice practice and win the next one.

Big shout out to our HomeRun Hitters ... Josie Vaenuku (3), Bubbles Leakehe and Daisy Taloa (2).  Good job ladies!!!

Players:  Shambre, Teya, Daisy, Josie, Mary, Deshani, Dana, Kensey, Janae, Abby and Bubbles
Coaches: Foi, Gil, Rusty

Thunder Rumble Tooele

5/3-5/4

After our disappointing finish that last tournament in Kaysville, we were unsure as to how our girls would do this weekend. However, we have been working hard at practice fixing what we lacked this last tournament. And I can proudly say that it paid off. b/c this weekend we sure did come home as CHAMPS. Our defense really pulled through and our bats were on fire. Everyone played a big part in our success this past weekend. The girls were having fun and everything just went right.

10 team participated in the 12u division.  We got 1st seed in the Upper Bracket with Surge 2000, Fast & Furious, Evolution ’01 and Attitude Roadrunners.  Good teams in our bracket.  We beat Surge 10-2 in the semi-finals.  They played F&F to determine who would play us in Championship game.  We won 7-1 vs Surge to become Champions.  They were not happy…Oh well..Hahaha.

Congrats to our Hot Shotz team taking FIRST PLACE at the Tooele County Thunder Rumber .. And as a treat the coaches are providing pizza and go-karting at the Miller Sports Park. I think that was the real motiviation to win. But hey… whatever it takes :)

Shout out to our homerun (over the fence) hitter HUNTYR Ava during the ship game .. No surprise there!!!

Bullets Friendly

I think today was the first day of summer LOL.  The weather was perfect for softball.  The sun was out and it was warm.  I think we may finally be over the cold wet spring weather we've been having..

Both teams (Boom & HS) were not playing this weekend so we decided to get our original Warriors team together to play as a team in the Bullets Friendly.  Of the original team, 9 girls are still playing softball.  Unfortunately Bubbs, Asia and Dana had other obligations and could not make it.  So we picked up Tuli, Katelynn and Keisha.

Although our record was 1-2 losing to Tsunami and Inferno the girls did well.  I'm excited to see where they each individually take the sport.  I hope they all had as much fun playing together as it was for me to watch them play.

Huge shout out to the dads who stepped in and coached the girls.. Foi, Will, Lance and Kirk

And to our players who make watching softball so much fun ..
Standing: Keisha, Kamora (Pitcher), Huntry, Shakel, Bubblegum
Kneeling:  Katelynn (Pitcher), Josie, Daisy
Sitting:  Tuli (Catcher)

It was so nice to see Mark Ibrahim who helped coached the Warriors 8u team back in the day.  The girls were very excited to see him.  He was an amazing coach and taught the girls and our husbands alot about the game.
